Ok, ok! I'll blog, I'll blog!!!
*deep breath* ok. This may take a while. So, Mexico was everything I wanted it to be and more, but I am very very happy to be back in los Estados Unidos again. Um, hm, how shall I do this? Let's start at the beginning, as it is generally a good place to start. I was really nervous, cuz I had never traveled anywhere completely by myself, nor internationally. But I met my roommate in the Minneapolis airport, which turned out to be a good thing cuz we hit it off right away. (lol- wow, flashbacks to "chicago", anyway...) Everything went fine, it was a relief to get through customs, as I'm always paranoid that I'm doing something illegal without knowing it, and as I've read far too many international intrigue novels to feel completely safe in airports. We met my host mom, Patricia, pretty much as soon as we got to Cemanahuac, the school in Cuernavaca, and drove to our house with 5 of us and 3 large suitcases in a small VW Derby. We met Geraldo Heraldo the Gecko our first night, who didn't make another appearance until late into our stay. The following day, we went to Cuicuilco, a small pyramid and ancient city in downtown Mexico City, and to Teotihuacan, the place with the large pyramids that you've probably already seen photos of on facebook. Our tour guide man was an impressive, moving & breathing vessel of knowledge, who told us stories about the Aztecs that sort of made me glad not to have known them. lol. ANYway... Teotihuacan was way fascinating, and you can never make the pyramids look as large in photos as they look in real life. Then, school started, the first week was extremely stressful, and I decided my brain just wasn't made to learn languages quickly, and then I got the best grade of all the 4th level students at the school, and decided I wasn't so screwed after all. ;) (I was rediculously excited, and I'm taking this opportunity to brag because I know you guys will love me anyway. ;) ) We went out on that first Wednesday (go me!) which was a good thing, cuz we pretty much made friends with that group for the rest of the trip. I'm pretty sure as a whole we tried every kind of famous Mexican beer possible. I know I'm pretty naive, but really, as far as I'm concerned, beer is beer. We saw Mision Imposible 3 that first weekend, in English, unfortunately, but the spanish subtitles were a giggle, and we also went sightseeing. I liked the Cathedral the best, (hm, y does that not surprise me?) but it was so beautiful. It was built in 1529, so its all stone, and it was so much cooler and calmer in there than anywhere outside, and they had huge beautiful brass plaques with scripture on them, and it was just quiet. And I like quiet. The Museo Robert Brady was cool, it was his house, and he collected art and cool bathrooms. ;) I saw a Frida Kahlo self-portrait there, and a small Diego Rivera drawing. I can't say I was as thrilled about the Palacio de Cortes, I bet Enoel would have liked it, lol, but the Diego Rivera mural was amazing to look at. The Jardin Borda was nice, but was, well, exactly what you'd expect- a garden with mexican things in it- lol. We also went to the Ballet Folklorico, which was way beautiful and almost made me cry. Then, more school occurred, and I didn't get nearly as good of a grade on my second test, but still ok, so that I'm not worried about my grade. And then Acapulco happened. Oh dear. Well, I'm a pretty optimistic person, so I was still glad I went, and I'm kind of a loner, anyway, so I was completely content sitting on our balcony when everyone else was sleeping and watching the waves come in and the torrential rains come down. I had a dream for the third or fourth time about the book I'm supposed to write- obviously, I don't remember anymore of it than that. But yes, we went out dancing at night, I had my first tequila, etc. The last day, everyone just wanted out, and we couldn't get a hold of our busdriver the entire weekend, and we were only halfway done with the tropical storm. Needless to say, we were pleased to return to Cuernavaca. Oh, I've forgotten to tell you about las cucarachas that shared our room with us in Cuernavaca. Let's just say, I'm now less afraid of all other bugs because they are not cockroaches. Anyway, last week of school was a-okay. If I don't get an A, I'll be really sad and surprised. We went to X-Men 3- GREAT movie if your into, well, comic book movies, lol. We went out the last night- it was fun, people were a little dramatic for me, but that's alright. I was disappointed that La Taverna didn't have Sangria, which was on their menu, and which I really wanted to try, but I got over it pretty quickly. lol. We celebrated my birthday at midnight, which was WAY fun! And inevitably, because it was my birthday the day following, I was stopped and frisked at every airport on the way home. And now I am here, quite enjoying my life of solitude and cleanliness-of-room, and have been avoiding having any influence on the outside world, a beautiful state which will come crashing down withing the coming weeks. But yes, my jobs for the summer are VOB, Crimson, and cleaning out my house, as it is my last summer here, and I'm the only one that can get my parents to get rid of things. I hope to see you all around, and soon, and if not, enjoy whatever it is that you are doing whereever you are doing it. :D

hello dear. for some reason, my friend at college insisted i start blogging again this summer since we wouldn't be a 2 minute walk away from each other anymore to share stories about our lives. and so i listened to him...well, sorta. anyways, i thought of you immediately as i decided to start my blogging again after a year of completely disregarding it.
the point of this post is to tell you that i am so incredibly happy to hear that your life has been going so well. it sounds like you are taking it all in exactly as i would have pictured.
thanks for being so true to yourself. i appreciate it!
